Introduction:
Expression in Art is the way artists conveys their thoughts, ideas, emotions, experiences and perspectives through the creative mediums. The Sanskrit word for ‘Expression’ is ‘Abhivyakti’. Generally we consider expression means facial expressions only. But the real meaning of expression is to show what you feel or think about anything. Definitely we can identify what the person feels through his/her facial expressions. But to think that it is the only way to show your thoughts and emotions is wrong. People express their thoughts and feelings through dancing, acting, singing, writing, drawing, playing musical instruments etc. And these people are artists. In this blog, I’ll share some of the captured moments at Abhivyakti City Art Projects.

Types of Audience:
Till now you have seen all the things from the side of artist. Now you’ll see types of reactions from the side of audience after seeing any art form or you may cosider types of audience and identify what type of audience you are.
Let’s take a example of a painting. Now with what intention the artist have created this painting is different thing but the exact message he/she wants to convey through painting is delivered to the audience is important. As you all know everyone has their own perception or point of view and mindset, so we all interprete it different. Let’s start with a story.
- Pessimistic:
There was an artist who wanted to know the reactions of people about the sketch he had made. So he put the sketch on public wall wrote a notice along with it asking anyone who finds any flaws in the drawing to specify them in a page and put it in a box. Many people came and marked the mistakes. Seeing so many chits full mistakes marked, the painter was disappointed. Then a wise man advised him to put the same sketch with the notice that whoever finds a flaw in the sketch can correct it. Next day, he saw the sketch was exactly as he had mad. No one corrected the mistake.
Here, pessimistic audience includes those who just find mistakes. Mostly these people don’t have a knowledge about that particular art.
- The second category is opposite to pessimistic. Audience in this category may not have an interest to perform or to create any art (don’t have an interest in dancing or painting) but they enjoy and appreciate the art. Sometimes, audience can appreciate art because they can relate to it from their personal experience, emotions and thoughts.
- The next category includes the people who have an interest in creating or performing any art and when they become audience they appreciate other artists work. These type of audience is able to identify the meaning or secret in art (The exact message artist want to give).
- The fourth category is same as third one but there is an addition in it. These type of audience not only have an interest in art, apprecuiate it, identify the meaning in art but also find mistakes and want improvement in particular art. It is said that only an artist knows the mistakes of another artist.

Edition 5
It’s about last year, it was the last paper of my Gujarat University exams of semester 3. After completing last papaer I and my friends came to know that the venue of Abhivyakti City Art Edition 5 is near to our exam centere. What better way to refresh mind after exams! That too for art lovers like us. It was noon time so we could see paintings, photographs & installations not dance, music and theatre. The pleasure of seeing all the art works at night with the magic of warm lights would have been different but to be honest, it was wonderful experience to watch all the masterpieces in the light of sun.
Everyone was mesmerized after seeing all the wonderful arts. It was a joy to understand the hidden expression in art. Although we all went together, but some of us looking at one painting while others were spending more time in front of another picture and that is speciality of art and any painting is that everyone’s perception and point of view is different about it. The work done by all the artists was appreciable. Have look some at some amazing art works which is saved in my gallery.

Conclusion:
To share ideas, opinions & feelings without fear or restriction is a freedom of expression guaranteed by the Constitution of India. So feel free to share your ideas and opinions. Always appreciate art works of artists because it motivates them. Waiting for your point of view regarding above images so start expressing your thoughts about art forms.
