What is the first thing that comes to your mind as you read and hear the word ‘Artist’? A person with canvas or paper and tools like colors, paint brushes, and pencil portraying his/her imagination on canvas. Right? Definitely, he/she is an artist, but if you think only these people are artists, then you are not clear about the actual meaning of art and artist.

The word ‘art’ comes from Latin word ‘ars’ which means ‘skill’ or ‘craft’. But in Sanskrit language it is known as ‘Kala’ which means ‘something that brings happiness’. The word ‘art’ may consist of only 3 letters but it encompasses wide range of meaning and interpretations. I think every individual as an artist, as each person has their own set of skills and talents that distinguish them from others. Skill is something that a person can develop through training in particular field but here I talk about God gifted talents, the activity that brings the calmness and make the person to forget about the problems for some time.

There are 64 types of Kala mentioned in our ancient scriptures. It includes dancing, singing, painting, carving, acting, cooking, weaving, etc. Here we talk about some different types of art.

Whether in your office, school, college, home you have found the different kind of talent in your classmates, colleagues or relatives which you didn’t know before. Many time we call it ‘hidden talent’ of the person. And the person is the best in doing that work which is his/her talent. You just have to put “Art of ………” in front the work whatever you are good at and if you don’t put then people will. For example, fans of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, consider him as Artist of cover drive (name of a shot in cricket) i.e. Art of cover drive. Let’s talk about different kinda arts.

Art of Living:

It is the concept of leading a good life with happiness, healthy lifestyle and maintaining good relationship with every one in all the phases of life. Do you know we remember some dead person because how well they live the life.

Art of Stress Management:

It is similar to art of living but more emphsizes on managing stress. Stress is the pressure experinced by person in response to life demands. The modern world is called ‘Age of innovations and technology’ but it is also the world full of anxiety and stress. Stress is the irreplaceable part of human life so all we can do is to manage it rather than ingore it. It is a skill that everyone needs to learn. It includes number of activities like maintaining proper sleep schedule, developing hobby, practising meditation & physical excercise, establishing good network of people, eating healthy food, time management, prayer etc.

Art of Managing Home:

It is the most underrated work/art. How carefully and effectively all the homemakers manage their homes and needs of their family members needs! Homemakers ensure the availability of all food items and other essential things prior just like business and companies order their materials in advance and manage smooth functioning. And all the working women also manage their responsibilities at home and workplace. In return they only want happiess and peace in family. So develop a habit of gratitude and take a time to say ‘Thank You’to your mother, wife and sister.

Art of Observation:

Do you observe your surroundings wherever you go? Instead of watching phone unneccesarily in bus, metro or cab, try to observe the things and people around you. Many business ideas are the result of observation. Many entrepreneur launch the products and services to solve the common problems faced by people. They identify the problem by observation. If you have humerous view towards life’s situation, then you can become a stand-up comedian also. What stand up comedians do? They just talk about normal things that generally happens in everyone’s life and brings smiles on your faces. It as an art of making people laugh.

Jokes apart, identify your hidden talent and if you find it difficult then ask your parents, siblings and close friends because sometimes they know you and your strengths better than you.

Art of telling a lie:

I think all of us had made excuses in front of teacher, sometimes with parents. But some of us caught by them because it is not everyone’s cup of tea. Some people present a lie with such creativity that we easily believe them. I am not saying that you should tell lie and develop skill of lying creatively. But it is necessary in some situations to tell lie. When the art of communicating effectively meet the art of telling a lie(not 100%) you can become a good sales person.

Conclusion

For me, there are two types of art: one that helps you live a good life and another that you need for monetary gain. Again this second one can be divided in two categories: One is simple that you turn your hobby for example dancing into your career then you are an artist definitely and the second one is about the unique way of doing work you do to earn money.

For example, although we studied under many teachers in school, tuition and college, we quickly understood what some teachers taught us, as some of them possess the art of teaching. (P.S. It sometimes depends on student’s grasping capability) Above I have written briefly about many arts and you can easily identify which of these two arts I was talking about.

Ultimately we all want to become self reliant and lead a joyful life. Getting customized products and services is the new trend in modern world. You can fulfill those unique demands by your unique skill and talent. So identify your talent or passion and if possible try to make your career into it.
